Sandy Paws 2009 is
Full of fun events.
Our Salute to Seniors honors the oldest hounds attending Sandy Paws. The honorees are sent a personal invitation to participate in the event. They are introduced to their adoring audience while a short story is read about each of the seniors. They are honored with a special goody bag and Salute to Seniors certificate. Be sure to join us to honor our Senior hounds!
The Canine Costume contest is a do not miss event! You will see everything from a bowl of spaghetti to bathing beauties in our contest. Audience vote chooses our winners.
Friday night is our Celebration dinner and this year's theme is Red, White and Roo! You must pre-pay your registration for dinner and have your Sandy Paws name tag to join the buffet. If you choose not to enjoy the dinner, join us in the Pavilion afterwards for our introductions and Live Auction!
We will have our Blessing of the Hounds in the Pavilion on Saturday prior to the Parade of Greys.
The Parade of Greys is a must see! The weather hasn't always cooperated with us parading on the beach so this year we will go to the historic district and have our Parade there. Locals on the island look forward to the parade and are amazed at our beautiful greyhounds and their people. After the Parade we have our group photo.
Greyhound games are always a fun event with a greyhound version of musical chairs and other fun, silly games. Join us for lots of fun and prizes.
Saturday night kicks off with our Ice cream social and the crowning of our Sandy Paws King and Queen at the Royal Roo Coronation. The King and Queen are presented with lovely crowns. You will receive one ballot per goody bag to cast your vote for your greyhound or the greyhound you feel exemplifies King and Queen.
Following the Coronation, we will introduce our Greythound Guardian Angel Award recipients. These are awards given to nominated individuals or groups who go above and beyond in their daily lives of greyhound welfare. They will be inducted into the Halo of Fame along with past years winners.
Finally, the evenings events wind up with our Memorial Service. Join us to remember our furry friends that have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. The service ends with a quiet walk to the beach on the luminaria lit boardwalk and a quiet moment on the beach.
This is a summary of our events planned for 2009. Please check your program for complete descriptions, dates and times. Enjoy our events!
